Federal Minister of Privatization, Board of Investment and Communications Abdul Aleem Khan termed the initiation of PIA flights to Europe a fantastic step forward. He stated, “Soon, people will see an alternative where travel within Europe is done on Pakistan International Airlines with assurance.”
He added that the new flight operation would serve as a landmark for the privatization of PIA. InSha Allah, after Europe, PIA might also get the green light for flights to the UK and the USA. That will further enhance the credibility of PIA and make it easier to market.

In a special conversation, the minister stated that various issues hindering the privatization process of PIA have been resolved. The remaining work and unresolved steps will be completed quickly.
Minister Highlights Incentives Abdul Aleem Khan informed that the IMF had agreed on two issues concerning PIA’s buyer. The 18% sales tax on new aircraft purchases will be waived. PIA’s losses will be transferred to the Holding Company.
It should be noted that the minister stated PIA’s liabilities and old dues would be eliminated as per the new conditions. This increased the attractiveness of PIA privatization for an investor. Matters regarding the privatization of PIA are heading at a rapid pace with very soon, the good news about handing over PIA to the private sector emerging.
