With the introduction of satellite communication features, Apple Watch Ultra 3 is rumored to be the next in line in the new Apple smartwatch product line, according to Mark Gurman from Bloomberg. The feature has already been available for the iPhone 14 since 2022, allowing users to send emergency texts and the roadside service provider to be contacted. However, in 2024, the Ultra 3 will take this a step further, allowing users to send iMessages without an iPhone, WiFi, or cellular connection.
Another amazing feature that Apple intends to come up with Ultra 3 is the blood pressure tracking. The delay now shifts that to beyond the 2023 launch, although it is still being considered by Apple. Rather than measuring blood pressure accurately, the notification would instead alert possible hypertensives. Apple, however, continues focusing on developing a non-invasive blood glucose tracker, even though this may not come to naught in next year’s model.

These innovations will also be in the face of dwindling smartwatch sales. Reportedly, sales to the wearables division have experienced declines in the past two years as consumers find little to no reason to upgrade. By offering things like satellite messaging and possible blood pressure monitoring, Apple hopes its smartwatch will regain interest.
The latest news is that Apple is also thinking about MediaTek modems for some of the Apple Watch models in 2024. This, too, will be the first time the company will procure a major component from MediaTek. These new modems, featuring 5G Redcap technology, are specifically engineered for wearables that don’t require high-speed data connections. With all these advancements, Apple is trying to solidify its position among wearables in the industry while providing consumers with real-life and advanced features.
