Syria’s dethroned President Bashar al-Assad has taken refuge in Moscow with his family as Russian state media reported the granting of asylum to them by Russia on humanitarian grounds. This comes as it is reported that an agreement has been reached for the safety of Russian military bases in Syria.
This announcement was followed earlier today by Russia’s Foreign Ministry that indicated that Assad had fled Syria after a quick onslaught by rebel fighters, popularly recognized under the operations room as “Operations Room to Conquer Damascus,” which ended with the capital being seized.

Against this unusual backdrop, the Syrian prime minister declared readiness for handing over power to opposition forces, assuring citizens about the fact that operations at government institutions would resume in two days and that the transfer of power would be synchronized with the United Nations.
Abu Mohammed al-Jolani, head of the Military Operations Department, ordered his men to avoid entering official institutions in Damascus, adding that such facilities shall remain under the caretaker authority’s prime minister until a formal handover is complete.
While the establishment of a ruling entity in opposition developed, the Syrian people awaited the dawn of the new era after having to suffer the years of havoc caused by the dictator, Assad.
