Deputy Commissioner Shozab Abbas has declared a month-long prohibition on boating activities at Khanpur Lake in accordance with Section 144 of the Code of Criminal Procedure (CrPC).
The prohibition period shall be from 25 November to 24 December, to provide public safety measures against disputes among boat operators in one of the popular recreational sites.

This order follows a formal application by the Assistant Commissioner and the Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Khanpur, raising safety-related apprehension over the likelihood of unpleasant incidents because of boating activity.
The recommendations, apart from requests for inspection and expeditious approval, were also based on the need to prevent any unwanted situations that boating operations would create.
The directive of the Deputy Commissioner takes a serious note of any violations committed on the ban and states that violators will be booked under Section 188 of the Pakistan Penal Code.
For successful enforcement of the order, the SHO will take strict actions, including FIR registrations against violators.

It is a precautionary measure for the time being for public safety, officials said, asking the public at large and all concerned parties to cooperate and abide by the edict to avoid legal trouble.
