Filming for Brad Pitt much-publicized movie on Formula One took place during the season-ending race of 2024 at the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix, where such shooting was supposed to take place. The much-talked-about superstar would be appearing as the dramatic fiction driver by the name of Sonny Hayes in the new film, which is allegedly scheduled sometime in June 2025 release. During this event, he also shot two important scenes, including a podium ceremony staged in jest which had some fans stirred, among other things, about it.
McLaren celebrated its first Constructors’ Championship since 1998, while Ferrari’s Charles Leclerc put on an incredible display, storming through the field from last to finish third after gaining an astonishing 16 places. But he couldn’t solve Ferrari’s problems, as they missed the title by 14 points. Presently, this Grand Prix also marked the last appearance of Carlos Sainz for Ferrari before he moves to Williams next season.

After the race, Norris was joined by Leclerc and Sainz to celebrate podium-winning brilliance before being interrupted by Pitt’s movie. The Ferrari drivers proceeded to film several takes where they sprayed champagne with Pitt in a driver’s suit. Besides Ferrari’s heartbreak and Sainz’s emotional farewell, Leclerc stayed professional during the shoot.
Fans have had their say in the debates on social media, some of which were antagonistic, claiming that the timing would detract from the intensity of the race, while others thought the scenes added great entertainment value. “Charles, absolutely depressed after the loss, now acting for the movie. You can’t make this up,” chimed one fan.
Pitt expressed his gratitude by saying: “F1 and the teams have been incredible, letting us embed ourselves in the race weekend. We’re creating the most authentic racing film yet.”
While fans have much to discuss regarding the wonderful combination of sport and motion pictures, this movie promises to lend a genuine perspective towards the high-stakes business of Formula One racing.
