The Cabinet Division has dismissed the Transport Supervisor, Ghulam Sadiq, for allegedly facilitating the procurement of spurious tires for the PM’s Mercedes Benz. It is said to be in line with an incident where the tires burst while a relative of the PM traveled from Islamabad to Lahore.

An inquiry also showed that Ghulam Sadiq and Muhammad Khalil did not follow the SOPs in purchasing the bulletproof tires. They favored the vendor M/s Waleed Autos without thorough verification. The government has made these Michelin bulletproof manufactured tires compulsory for Mercedes-Benz vehicles, and this requirement has not been complied with in this case.
The decision has reinforced that the procedures have to be followed for the safety and integrity of government assets.
