Thursday’s tsunami warning that followed a magnitude 7.0 earthquake off California’s coast has now been canceled. The US Geological Survey originally registered the tremor at 6.6 but later revised it to 7.0, striking just over 60 miles west-southwest of Humboldt County’s Ferndale, with the epicenter some 45 miles southwest of Eureka at an 8-mile depth.
The National Weather Service announced the cancellations as, “No Tsunami Warning, Advisory, Watch, or Threat,” and said the warnings were covering California and Oregon.

Reports of tremors around most northern coastal areas of California and a section of the Central Valley mentioned experiencing tremors, but no damage was reported immediately.
