China has not left any stone unturned to condemn the intentions of the United States to establish bases and missile units in Japan and the Philippines “in the event of a Taiwan contingency.” The Foreign Ministry spokesman Mao Ning has told that Beijing firmly opposes increasing military deployment in the region using the Taiwan issue as an excuse since it stirs up tensions and instability in regional peace.
This new set of bases will stretch across the southwestern Nansei Islands chain, where in the future will be deployed a US Marine Littoral Regiment from Kagoshima and Okinawa provinces in Japan, spreading toward Taiwan. It considers the island as a “breakaway province” and views any interference as internal.

In the Philippines, the US Army will establish long-range fire units of its Multi-Domain Task Force, which is tailored to operate across air-land-sea-space-cyber-information environments. The two hosts, Tokyo and Washington, will thus include these deployments in their joint operation plan, to be drawn up next month.
Mao again reiterated that one key to maintaining peace and stability in the Taiwan Straits is adherence to the one-China principle, to which he said Russia also subscribed that very principle and opposed US action on Taiwan given the condemnation made by Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Andrei Rudenko.
