China Scholarships Announces 2025-26 for Pakistani Students

A scholarship program has been announced by the Chinese government for AJK, Pakistani students in the academic year 2025-26 to pursue their studies and research work in Chinese Universities.

As per the announcement released by the Higher Education Commission (HEC), the last date to Submit an Online Application is Monday 09, December 2024.

Applicants who are eligible hereunder for the Chinese Government Scholarship Program 2025-26 have already obtained a valid HAT (score obtained on or after December 09, 2022, is valid) or a USAT score (score obtained on or after December 09, 2023, is valid). Such Applicants must submit their valid score on the HEC portal at the same time of submitting of application for consideration.

He said that the country has entered into a memorandum of understanding of educational cooperation with Pakistan, through which the Chinese Scholarship Council and the Government of China preferred Pakistani students/scholars to teach and do research in Chinese Universities. The agency from the Government of Pakistan to nominate for these scholarships in the academic year 2025-26 is HEC.

The enrollment and administration of the Chinese Government Scholarship Program will be carried out by the China Scholarship Council, commissioned by the Ministry of Education, People’s Republic of China. Eligible applicants will get a chance to apply for the Undergraduate/Bachelor, Master, and Doctoral/PhD programs in their fields of study.

The eligibility criteria state that applicants must be Pakistani or AJK nationals. Applicants with dual nationality are not eligible. The students must be healthy. The applicants having incomplete qualifications on the closing date of application are not eligible to apply.

A student interested in applying for an Undergraduate/Bachelor’s degree program must at least be an intermediate/A level/FA-FSC (12 years) holder and should be below 25 years of age by the time of application. For Masters program applicants, it is necessary for them to have a bachelor’s degree (16 years) education and should be under 35 years at the time of application.

Students applying for the Ph.D./Doctoral program should possess an MS/MPhil Masters degree and must be below 40 years of age at the time of application. Students must fulfill all application requirements as prescribed by the China Scholarship Council website and portal. Students must meet the admission criteria of the universities being applied to regarding academic eligibility, language requirements, and any other criteria relevant to this application. Applicants must not be availing of any other kind of scholarship at the time of application.

All applicants must provide a HAT or USAT score. HAT is for students of masters and PhD levels while it is USAT for undergraduates. All applicants must score a minimum of 50 points out of a possible 100 in either the HAT test or the USAT test. Applications will not be considered for further processing if a minimum score of 50 out of 100 in the HAT or USAT test is not provided. HAT is valid for 02 years while USAT has a duration of 01 year. For this scholarship, the applicant must have already obtained a valid HAT (score obtained on or after December 09, 2022) or USAT score (score obtained on or after December 09, 2023).

According to the details of tuition funds, these will be used by the host university. It may include expenditures for education, administration, health insurance, and any other expenses of a program aimed at student activities.

Meanwhile, each awardee is guaranteed free university accommodation or accommodation subsidy. As per the Scholarship policy set by the Chinese government, a stipend will also be awarded.

All travel expenses will therefore be incurred by the scholarship winners themselves; HEC is in no way liable for this. Interested applicants are invited to apply online at: http://scholarship.hec.gov.pk/ after which they can log into their profile to select “Learning Opportunities Abroad”.
