Chinese Delegation Plans $1 Billion Investment in Pakistan

A high-level business delegation from China led by Consul General Yang Yundong has expressed interest in investing $1 billion in a medical city of international standards in Pakistan. This project is expected to transform the healthcare landscape of the country.

The Chinese delegation was also interested in investing in priority sectors of the Pakistan economy like agriculture, livestock, energy, transportation, and manufacturing during their meeting with President Asif Ali Zardari in Karachi.

President Zardari, cordially welcoming the interest of the Chinese delegation, pointed out the deepened bilateral economics and commercial for both countries. He stressed the need for more people-to-people contacts between the investors and business communities to further support trade and economic relations.

The President underscored deep-rooted historical and fraternal ties between Pakistan and China, emphasizing a shared vision of developing Gwadar Port into a regional trade and economic hub. He assured full support and facilitation of the Pakistani government to Chinese investors and culturally, cited the introduction of Chinese language courses in Sindh to further strengthen linkages between people.

The meeting was also attended by Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah and other provincial ministers.
