An exclusive eight-member investigating committee has been formed to review and finalize recommendations on allowances for government employees with the nod of the Prime Minister.

The committee would be headed by Federal Minister for Finance Muhammad Aurangzeb and will review existing allowances and make recommendations for new ones. It also includes Federal Minister for Economic Affairs Ahad Khan Cheema, State Minister for Finance and Revenue Ali Pervaiz Malik, and the Secretary of Finance.
The committee will also include Secretaries of the Establishment Division, Defense, and Interior Division.
It should be recalled that the establishment of a pension fund for the public sector to tackle financial problems had been approved by ECC in June.
