It is said that the deadline of December 31, 2017, is set for Afghan nationals to either acquire a No Objection Certificate or leave Islamabad City. This is part of a broader move to regulate foreign nationals and tighten security in the capital.
Announcing the directive at a site visit to the construction of the ongoing underpass at F-8, Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi addressed the issue of protests in Islamabad, saying that the allegations of mass casualties are unfounded.
Authorities said normalcy had been restored in the city after the violence, adding that various infrastructural projects, including the F-9 road and underpass, are on track.
In a gesture of solidarity, Naqvi and the Punjab Rangers DG visited injured security personnel at PIMS Hospital. Officials praised them for their efforts in maintaining law and order during the public protests and promised them good medical care.

Meanwhile, Islamabad’s police chief Ali Nasir Rizvi confirmed that around 954 protesters were arrested in three days. More than 200 vehicles were seized, and 39 firearms, including Kalashnikovs and pistols, were recovered during the operations. As per official reports, 71 people were injured, 52 of whom belonged to the security forces.
It has been reiterated that there will be severe security arrangements to keep unauthorized persons from residing in the capital. Safety patrols and checkpoints will continue to provide maximum public safety while preventing any further disruptions.
