Dr. Muhammad Amjad Saqib, a well-known Pakistani social entrepreneur and founder of Akhuwat, is honored to be awarded the Brain of the Year Award 2025 by The Brain Trust. The announcement came at a ceremony at the British House of Commons under the auspices of Raymond Keene OBE, Grand Chessmaster and Chairman of The Brain Trust. Founded by Tony Buzan, the inventor of Mind Maps, The Brain Trust caters to the world through research and support for mind-enhancing initiatives, including funding.
Excellence in Compassionate Innovation,” as Dr. Saqib’s remarkable contributions to the deprived of Pakistan have been highlighted by Raymond Keene. Dr. Saqib founded Akhuwat, the largest Islamic microfinance institution worldwide, through which he is provisioning the underprivileged with interest-free microloans and thereby reforming millions. Keene commented, “Akhuwat was founded in 2001 with an initial fund worth just $100; as of now, it has disseminated more than $1 billion worth of interest-free loans and positively influenced more than 6 million families across Pakistan.”

Dr. Saqib’s innovative way of seeing microfinance was commended by The Brain Trust as a model of alleviating poverty while uplifting the human spirit. Furthermore, Keene stated, “Dr. Saqib’s commitment to social justice, mental well-being, and community empowerment fits hand in glove with The Brain Trust’s mission.”
