Pakistan’s Drug Regulators Authority has recently approved a new Indigenous ventilator design, ‘Innovent’, from Essence Industries Karachi. As per the specifications of the ventilator, it is specifically designed for elderly cases, and it has now received a license for production after passing all clinical trials. The Innovent ventilator was intended to strengthen Pakistan’s healthcare and technology economy for a 5-year shelf life.
Not only this but also that it will be available for exports, thus supplementing the revenue of the country. Such an impact of this ventilator boasts the DRAP CEO Dr. Asim Rauf, who emphasized the importance of promoting local products of medical instruments and further added that the value of foreign exchange will increase by exporting ventilators like Innovent, making Pakistan an important player in the global arena of medical technology.

“The history of Made in Pakistan medical devices is proof of our growing technological prowess and commitment to innovation,” said Dr. Rauf.
So far, this is nothing new for Pakistan. Another such occasion occurred in 2021 when the Drug Regulatory Authority of Pakistan registered the first indigenously developed ICU ventilator, that is, ‘i-LIVE’, developed by the Pakistan Atomic Energy Commission. Long technical evaluations granted approval for the i-LIVE ventilator for five years under the DRAP Act 2012. Those are the trails Pakistan has set for proving its focus and vision on healthcare innovations and self-sufficiency.
