The European Union on Friday proposed canceling visa-free travels for diplomats from Georgia on account of violent reactions to pro-EU protests.
“Georgians have rightly been protesting against the government’s decision to stop the EU progress. Peaceful protests meet police violence and today we put some visa restrictions for Georgian diplomats,” European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen said on X.

Addressing the Georgian government, von der Leyen said, “Stop harming your people.”
For the last 23 days, citizens of Georgia have been protesting against the government’s choice to postpone negotiations with the EU.
