On New Year’s Day, two inmates in Belmarsh Prison attacked Irfan Sharif, the father of the late 10-year-old Sara Sharif. The attackers resorted to using the lid of a steel can to slash his throat and cause facial injuries. Although prison staff moved in quickly, Sharif ended up with serious injuries that needed stitching.
Sources say that the incident was planned, and though a prison officer acted quickly and can reign in the fatal outcome, the condition of Sharif remains critical while authorities continue with investigations into the assault.
The authorities have put the man, Irfan Sharif, under arrest over his daughter’s death, a case that has caught public attention.

On August 10, 2023, 10-year-old Sara Sharif, a British citizen, was found dead inside the family home located in Woking, Surrey. The day after she was found dead, her father, Irfan Sharif, fled the UK with his partner, Beinash Batool, and brother, Faisal Malik.
According to the British newspaper The Independent, all three booked one-way tickets to Pakistan before Sara’s body had been uncovered.
According to Olga Sharif, the mother of Sara, tied the knot with Irfan in the year 2009 but ended their marriage in 2017. Irfan, in turn, secured complete custody of Sara and her thirteen-year-old sibling in 2019, after which Olga was allowed to meet both children on just two occasions.
