Today, Tuesday, the federal cabinet is set to meet for the last time this year, in a discussion of the political and economic situation in the country, along with vital security matters.
Presiding over the meeting, which will kick off at 5 pm, is Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif. Sources say the cabinet will also have security discussion headings focusing on developments in the eastern and western borders.

In a significant move last week, the cabinet approved two presidential ordinances: the Societies Registration Amendment Ordinance for madrasa registration was signed into law by President Asif Zardari on Sunday, among others.
The Cabinet also gave the go-ahead to the amendments to Ithe ncome Tax Ordinance to apply taxes on the surplus profits earned by banks, targeting an extra Rs70 billion in revenue collection.
