FIA Denies Mobile Phone Checks at Airports, Emphasizes Privacy.

The Federal Investigation Agency, (FIA) has denied mobile phone checking reports related to overseas Pakistanis at airports. In an official statement, the FIA cleared its immigration department does not conduct such checks, and all that crept up information is baseless and misleading.

The emphatic statement said that the FIA is dutifully encased within her legal ambit and mandate for at all times upholding passengers’ dignity and privacy. It elaborated further that inspection at immigration counters was conducted according to relevant laws and applied strictly against cases involving specific suspicion as reflected in those regulations.

The public was advised only to rely on public sources for correct information and not engage in sharing unverified messages of unnecessary panic or confusion. The FIA also encouraged passengers to call the helpline or check the website for any concerns or queries.
