During a visit to the Central Medicine Warehouse in Maraka, which is among the largest such facilities in the country, Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif kick-started the distribution of free medicines to many districts.
The chief minister directed that the medicine warehouses come into operation quickly in Rawalpindi, Faisalabad, and Multan to bring healthcare services to all parts of the province.
During this time, CM Maryam monitored the dispatch of medicines to different districts loaded onto trucks and oversaw the equipment such as furniture and medical supplies for hospitals. Furthermore, she assessed the quality and expiry dates of the medicines and checked temperature regulation systems in the warehouse.

Punjab Health Secretary Ali Jan Khan briefed the chief minister regarding the warehouse’s capabilities that met standard temperature safety requirements with efficient transport systems for distributing medicines.
According to the official statement, nine central stores have been created under the free medicines project. Over 10 billion worth of medicines can be stored within these warehouses. Modern medical equipment worth 7 billion, along with furniture, disposable bed sheets, and other hospital supplies, will also be distributed from these warehouses.
District hospitals across Punjab will be receiving standardized furniture, highly advanced medical equipment, medicine trolleys, and other essential items under the project.
