Germany arms exports in the year 2024 have already hit an all-time high of €13.2 billion. This sum is introduced as breaking previous records. Revealing this gross amount, the Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs indicated that Ukraine stood the greatest by finally receiving a total approved export value of €8.2 billion, which is 62 percent of the total.
“Such figures reaffirm our continuous commitment to the defense of Ukraine against Russian aggression. Military support to Ukraine includes interests of security policy to Germany,” thus goes the minister, further referencing the continuing Russia-Ukraine conflict, with its mark on the 1,000th day lately.
Germany, which now surpassed its previous annual record of €12.2 billion for arms exports in 2023, includes almost €8.1 billion for weapons of war and €5.1 billion in other military equipment in this total.

Others after Ukraine include Singapore with €1.2 billion approved, Algeria with €559 million, and the US with almost €299 million.
These numbers also reflect continued arms shipments to Israel, notwithstanding increasing calls for Berlin to declare an arms embargo, in particular against the Israeli government’s operations in Gaza. In the year 2024, Berlin approved military equipment worth 161 million euros for Israel. So far, the German government has only briefly suspended weapons supply with Israel in March but resumed after assurances of their intended use were received from Tel Aviv.
Israel is being tried in international courts for alleged genocide over its crimes in Gaza, which resulted in the deaths of more than 45000 Palestinians and injured over 100000, predominantly women and children. An Amnesty International report recently stated, “Israel has committed and is continuing to commit genocide against Palestinians” in Gaza, demanding that all nations including Germany stop arms exports to Israel.
