In line with global standards, the current curriculum for BS and MS degree programs in Physical Education has been reviewed and updated by the Higher Education Commission (HEC) of Pakistan in consideration of emerging trends. This has been a consequential update as the curriculum was last put together in 2014.
Representatives from 18 institutions across Pakistan gathered at the University of Punjab for the two-day meeting of the National Curriculum Review Committee (NCRC). The participants discussed how the curriculum should be modernized to reflect emerging trends, match global standards, and address the evolving needs of the Physical Education sector in Pakistan.

Professor Dr. Zafar Iqbal Butt, Chair of the Department of Sports Sciences, University of the Punjab Lahore, was unanimously elected as convener and chaired the announcement. His prominent deep-thought expertise and leadership played a crucial role in refining and up-to-date the framework.
Director General (Academic) HEC Dr. Amjad Hussain highlighted the need to develop a creative and dynamic curriculum that promotes excellent norms in education and research in Physical Education. He really appreciated all the participants and institutions for reviewing and updating.
The newly revamped curriculum is set to give graduates an edge over others, empowering them to contribute positively to Physical Education, sports, and health.
