The Islamabad High Court (IHC) demands that the Ministry of Foreign Affairs provide a record of the foreign trips undertaken by Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar, especially in connection with their arrangements regarding Dr. Aafia Siddiqui’s release from the United States.
The court was hearing the plea moved by Dr. Fowzia Siddiqui for the release of her sister Dr. Aafia Siddiqui. Along with her lawyer Imran Shafiq, former senator Mushtaq, and other representatives, Dr. Fowzia joined the proceedings through video link.

The Additional Attorney General and officials of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs were present at that hearing. Dr Aafia’s US lawyer, Clive Smith, dropped a declaration that was appreciated by the court. Justice Sardar Ijaz Ishaq Khan raised the issue of the lack of involvement of the Pakistan ambassador in the case and the absence of a response to PM Sharif’s letter from US President Joe Biden.
The court said the Pakistani ambassador in the US should have coordinated efforts with the Biden administration on the matter. It adjourned the case until January 13, directing the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to submit detailed reports on the foreign visits related to Dr. Aafia’s case.
