Founder of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf Party, Imran Khan, on this Thursday, ousted Barrister Gohar Ali Khan from the party chairmanship while appointing Asad Qaiser, former National Assembly Speaker, in his place.
Barrister Ali Zafar confirmed the decision after a meeting with Imran Khan, stating it was a decision aimed at letting senior leaders take the lead in the party.
A further change in high places was made when Ali Muhammad Khan was elected Secretary General, superseding Salman Akram Raja . Earlier reports suggested that Raja had resigned, however Barrister Zafar put the matter straight, saying he was removed by the party founder.

Imran Khan has brought Asad Qaiser and Ali Muhammad Khan to Adiala Jail for a meeting to finalize the appointment of party leadership.
This follows after abuses hurled at PTI leaders for not showing up in the ongoing protests in Islamabad, which had harshly left their internal conflicts with the arrest of hundreds of party workers as they were conducting their own protests.
Barrister Gohar Ali Khan unopposedly took charge as PTI chairman in December 2023 following Imran Khan’s disqualification in the Toshakhana case.
