The Excise and Taxation department, in consideration of the vehicle owners of the Federal Capital, has decided to extend the vehicle token tax hours for filing applications. Counters will remain open until 8:00 pm so that the citizens can avail of the service conveniently before the deadline for payment, which is January 1. This was announced during the latest performance review meeting chaired by DG Excise, Irfan Nawaz Memon.

In that meeting, Memon made clear that there would be very high penalties imposing heavy fines against non-payment and cancellation of vehicle registration for people who miss the deadline. The idea is to allow more people to come and fulfill their tax obligations quite conveniently.
The most important advice, therefore, is for vehicle owners with past-due taxes to go and make payments as soon as they can. He also urged people to pay their token tax, so they don’t end up legally in problems or have to pay much higher-than-normal penalties. He reiterated that a recent decision had been reached regarding the annulment of vehicle registration for not paying token tax.
