On November 24, the Islamabad High Court (IHC) issued a contempt notice to Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) for the protests. Chief Justice Amir Farooq headed the session after a petition brought before him by the president of the F-7 Traders’ Association. In his application, the petitioner complained that despite open orders from the court, thousands of protesters entered Islamabad and created havoc.

The protesters, mostly from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, also sought the immediate release of PTI Chairman Imran Khan and reportedly employed force at times. This has led to the IHC giving a notice of respondents to PTI, who will file a reply by next week. Notices were also given to the Secretary of the Interior, Chief Commissioner, Deputy Commissioner, and Islamabad Inspector General (IG), to respond in the next hearing.
