South Korea will send the black box of the Jeju Air crash to the U.S. for analysis. It was decided after the assessment that South Korea could not extract any pieces of data from the damaged recorder. The black box will be analyzed by the NTSB with the investigators from South Korea.

The Jeju Air flight was bound from Bangkok to Muan International Airport and crashed on 29 December 2024, causing 179 casualties, making it the deadliest aircraft accident in South Korea for almost thirty years. Among the initial findings are possible causes like a bird strike and a landing gear failure, but they require further analysis to identify the exact cause.
Because of this, a proper investigation will be conducted into the causes of the tragedy.
