Kazakhstan-China signed new export agreements worth $1 billion in Beijing to strengthen their agricultural trade ties. Among these agreements is a $100 million deal on poultry products from Kazakhstan. According to Aidarbek Saparov, the agriculture minister, the major exports to China include grains and oilseeds, grains being the most important.
In 2023, grain exports from Kazakhstan to China amounted to 1.4 million tons, which translated to a 5.5-fold increase compared to 2022’s volumes. For the period January-September 2024, 1.1 million tons were exported. The countries are aspiring to consolidate an annual grain flow of a total of 2 million tons in the near future. Thus, Kazakhstan is inviting investment in the agro-industrial sector of China to produce organic goods.
