Kazakhstan has achieved remarkable growth in e-governance, scaling heights to bag the 24th position out of 193 nations in UN E-Government Development Index for the year 2024. This significantly improved performance has confirmed its former 28th rank position in 2022, thus smashing the claim of being the best in Central Asia in e-governance. The first three top global countries according to rank are Denmark, Estonia, and Singapore.
In a bid to hasten the pace of digital transformation, President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev signed historic legislation on July 5 about the digitization of statistics and improvement in data management systems. By amending the laws surrounding state control, statistics, and data management, the new legislation is expected to simplify statistical reporting for input up to 40-50%.
