Soon after. A peace accord between warring tribes, violence is resurfacing here in Kurram. A vehicle of Deputy Commissioner Javedullah Mehsud came under attack in lower Kurram, at Bagan, causing Mehsud to be injured. He is currently stable and receiving treatment at Lower Alizai Hospital. Mehsud has been crucial in efforts that seek to restore peace in the troubled region.
It was when the first convoy under tight security was en route to Kurram, carrying food and other essential supplies, that the attack occurred. The convoy would have police and other security forces ensuring its safe passage. The peace deal, signed under the three-week-long Grand Jirga, was to come into effect on January 04, “Currently: Passenger convoy plan to be escorted to Parachinar under security cordon All bunkers should be demolished within 15 days flatsac b. Parachinar and Bagan condemn sit-ins. One of the demands of protesters in Parachinar is that all roads, particularly the main highway, be opened. In contrast, the people of Bagan are holding their protest until all arms have been surrendered, all bunkers have been dismantled, and compensation has been disbursed for shops and houses in Bagan Bazaar. The Grand Jirga’s accord was signed by both parties; it marks the validity of the decisions made by the Apex Committee. An oversight committee of 16 members, including representatives from both sides, shall monitor the implementation of the agreement. This involves chip removal from Teri Mangal to Chehri and the reopening of roads, particularly the Tal-Parachinar route, under government supervision.
