One such fraud case is developing in Lahore, an individual named Burhan Asif is alleged to have abused the name of the provincial information minister Azma Zahid Bokhari to swindle people and embezzle Rs 1.4 million. The case was filed under sections 408, 504, and 506 of the Pakistan Penal Code (PPC) after an official complaint was filed by one of their provincial information ministry officials.

Burhan Asif misused the minister’s name to defeat victims through deception and by obtaining hefty amounts of money in some instances. All told, he had so far cheated over Rs 3.5 million, out of which Rs 1.4 million he illegally obtained under the name of the minister. He even had links with the minister’s office, which he used to mislead his victims. His actions diminished the image of the Ministry of Information.
Legal proceedings have started, and the police are working on capturing the suspect to make him pay for his actions.
