These petitions are very important in Lahore High Court Chief Justice Aalia Neelum’s rule on petitions that are filed directly by government departments. It lays down that none of the petitions shall be filed in the Lahore High Court until the relevant department has failed to resolve the matter. The decision would help avoid piling up case backlogs because of departmental grievance goat methods.

According to Chief Justice Neelum, direct filings pose a greater strain on the court and another set of problems for petitioners as well. In order to enforce this, Additional Registrar Shabbir Shah has now issued an official circular after the approval from the Chief Justice.
