Zoo Director Tanveer Ahmed Janjua reported on Friday that the Lahore Safari Zoo has celebrated the arrival of seven lion cubs.
There are three lionesses giving birth to these seven cubs: One has two cubs and the second has one cub while the third lioness has three. Among these lion cubs, there are two rare white lion cubs. The zoo has also welcomed three healthy Royal Bengal tiger cubs recently.
All the cubs seemed to be doing well, yet four of them were rejected by their mothers. All four are currently hand-fed by staff members at the zoo. According to veterinary experts, big cats reject their cubs as an instinct when an abnormality is sensed by the mother, thus requiring supplement feeding in such cases.

This brings the total lion population in the zoo up to 29 from 22. Just some weeks back, the tiger cubs were born, adding to the house of big cats within the zoo.
Meanwhile, Karachi Zoo also welcomed three lion cubs born to a healthy lioness. The zoo officials confirmed that both the lioness and the recently born cubs were doing well and planned to introduce the public to the cubs in about two months when the cubs become eight weeks old. Photos released by the zoo show cubs having the best time under their mother’s care.
Karachi Zoo also reported that a 30-year-old Bengal tigress died of natural causes. Since Bengal tigresses typically live around 18 to 20 years, it can be said that this was extremely long and noteworthy regarding the tigress’s age.
