A Chinese company Chengdu had pledged $700 million for IT and smart city projects in Punjab. This was informed during a meeting between Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif and a high-level Chinese delegation in Islamabad. The delegation has Ms. Scarlett, Chengdu General Coordinator for the ICT Hub, and Mr. Yu Ray, Deputy CEO of Huawei.
It includes e-taxi, cloud, and data centers at Nawaz Sharif IT City in Lahore, as well as the first e-commerce platform in Pakistan. The Punjab Government will provide land and infrastructure for these projects.

Then, smart city concepts will also have a smart control room, intelligent traffic management, smart transport, and smart sanitation center inside Lahore. The second phase will set up an AI Industry Center to train the youth in the country regarding different technologies of artificial intelligence.
Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif also urged that the region should take advantage of technology to bring growth and made a special regard to the development plan for Punjab to be part of the world’s IT hub with the creek cooperation.
