Chief Minister Punjab Maryam Nawaz enjoyed a highly beneficial day on the third day of her historic eight-day trip to China, in Shanghai. Her activities demonstrated that she was gearing toward renewable energy and digital economic development in Punjab.
Maryam Nawaz, along with her delegation, visited the Jinko Solar Panels Manufacturing Plant, where they were given a full briefing about the very modern solar technologies and products for innovative energy. The chief minister invited Jinko Solar to establish a center for manufacturing solar panels in Punjab because the province is open to investments in clean energy solutions.
This program coincides with the newly launched Punjab government free solar panel scheme under which around 100,000 power consumers are targeted to receive free solar panels. Such households can apply for availing of this scheme through SMS or online portal to encourage sustainable capacity and affordable solutions for society at large.

The chief minister also toured the exhibit at the Hongqiao Import Exhibition and Trade Center, where she spoke to a young entrepreneur marketing Pakistani products. The proud people were inspired by the country’s businesses being represented on a global stage and stated that young entrepreneurs should be supported to increase the economic footprint of the nation.
Maryam Nawaz had a specific interest in the e-commerce sector due to its vast horizon for fostering economic growth. She directed the Punjab authorities to study international trends in e-commerce and come up with strategies to enhance the infrastructure for digital commerce in the province. “E-commerce is a key driver of modern economies,” she remarked, “and itís imperative that we harness this potential to empower our businesses and consumers.”
This visit aims at marking touchpoints for the chief minister’s strategic intentions on sustainable energy and digital economy as future pillars for Punjab’s development.
