It has been introduced within the city traffic police in Murree concerning traffic measures in anticipation of the expected influx of tourists with snowfall. Chief Traffic Officer (CTO) Mughees Ahmad Hashmi announced here today that almost 200 traffic wardens would be deployed to keep the traffic flowing. The directives issued under the orders of the Chief Minister of Punjab Maryam Nawaz, Inspector General of Police, and Additional Inspector General of Traffic Police would be followed strictly.
Some of the roads earmarked for one-way traffic during snowfall are View Fourth Road, Bank Road, Hall Road, Kuldana Road, and Imtiaz Shaheed Road. The places around Habib Bank, General Post Office (GPO) Chowk, Cecil Hotel, and Kuldana Road, beside Bank Road to Girls Degree College, will also serve as no-parking zones. The purpose is to reduce congestion in major areas of the city. Heavy vehicles such as food supply trucks and water tankers are allowed to enter from 1 a.m. to 7 a.m. All other measures are for the most effective and safe provision for visitors during the peak winter season.
