An 850-crore legal notice has been sent to Navjot Singh Sidhu, a former cricketer and Congress leader, and his wife Navjot Kaur Sidhu.
The notice allegedly issued by the Chhattisgarh Civil Society challenges Sidhu’s recent statements claiming that his wife has recovered from stage 4 cancer in 40 days through a diet.
At the time when he was briefing reporters in Amritsar, he said a special diet along with conventional treatment could do wonders in curing his wife. He also gave a full-fledged diet plan that includes lemon water, turmeric, neem leaves, and beetroot juice leaving out sugar, dairy, and wheat.

According to Sidhu, medical interventions like surgery, chemotherapy, and targeted therapy could be complemented by those alimentary lifestyle changes, however, disagreed because they considered these claims as misleading and potentially dangerous.

Dr Kuldeep Solanki, convenor of the organization, argued that the statements made by Sidhu may well discourage cancer patients from taking medical treatments, hence putting lives at risk. The notice further demands from Navjot Kaur Sidhu that proof is given to support such claims within seven days, otherwise, legal action will be undertaken.
“We treated with doctors all these and it is being alleged. Doctors are God for me,” he said in a video message attempting to portray that the diet was a collective effort to treat cancer through conventional methods.
