NEPRA announces an 18 paisa per unit cut in electricity price for Karachi consumers under the September monthly adjustment 2024, added by ARY News.
This deduction will be reflected in electricity bills issued in December 2024 but will not apply to any consumer using electricity less than 300 units a month, as mentioned in NEPRA’s notification.
K-Electric had requested a reduction of 16 paise per unit on the September adjustment and sought approval of their refund of Rs. 247 million adjustments to its consumers.
Recent Adjustments and Tariff Changes:
August Adjustment: NEPRA approved a 40 paisa per unit increase in K-Electric’s power tariff. This increase relates to the August 2024 adjustment but will appear in January 2025 bills.
June and July adjustments: K-Electric consumers will pay an extra Rs. 3.17 per unit reflected in November 2024 bills (June adjustment) and Rs. 3.03 per unit in December 2024 bills (July adjustment).
Previously, K-Electric announced an increase of Rs. 2.59 per unit in October 2024. This significant weight is then added to consumers.

An Rs.1.74 per unit quarterly adjustment will also be charged as a separate component for passing through the fuel price variations as the mechanism.
The notification covers the perennial adjustments in electricity tariffs; it highlights the increases and decreases that are not the same to consumers depending on their usage pattern and on the adjustment cycle.
