New Zealand Defeats England by 423 Runs in Third Test, Climbs WTC Table

New Zealand achieved a one-sided 423-run victory over England in the third Test at Hamilton on Tuesday and ended their series with flying colors. As a result, they climbed into fourth place in the ICC World Test Championship (WTC) table.

After England wrapped up the series with two wins in the first two Tests, New Zealand ended the series on a high note. They dismissed England for just 234 in their second innings, showcasing clinical bowling and batting prowess throughout the match.

Mitchell Santner had a good all-round Test with bat and ball, taking 4/85 in the second innings. Jacob Bethell (76) and Joe Root (54) played good knocks to add some resistance from England’s perspective, but it was not enough to withstand the New Zealand pressure.

Harry Brook of England, who scored 350 runs in the series, was also chosen as the Player of the Series.

It finally earned New Zealand a place on the fourth rank in the WTC standings following its victory over England, while the latter slid down to sixth. As such, neither will fight for the 2025 WTC Final. England might muse over their inconsistency within the entire WTC cycle alongside this series, but New Zealand’s commandingly brilliant Hamilton performance made sure to seal the campaign with a strong arrière.
