In accordance with the North Korean media KCNA, strategic cruise missile test firing was carried out on Saturday. The exercise, which was a major test of a weapon system, was under the supervision of Kim Jong Un. The underwater-to-surface missiles flew 1,500 km towards their targets.

Meanwhile, in reaction to rising tensions, the North Korean foreign ministry issued the most severe warning of counteraction against the US. The ministry charged that joint military training by South Korea and the United States was the main cause for increased instability in the region.
Meanwhile, US President Donald Trump expressed the desire to once again reach out to Kim Jong Un in the hope of opening dialogue again with the North Korean leader. Earlier in the month, North Korea had also reported the successful test of a new intermediate-range hypersonic ballistic missile.
