The Federal Minister for Planning and Development, Ahsan Iqbal, has met with Zhao Chenxin, Vice Chairman of China’s National Development and Reform Commission (NDRC) in Beijing, to discuss the future direction of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC).
The two officials sat down to engage in detailed discussions, renewing commitments to move forward with CPEC programs under the auspices of the Belt and Road Initiative.

The two sides have agreed on the fact that “CPEC 2.0” would mean a much more advanced level of cooperation building on the successes of CPEC 1.0. “Pakistan is committed toward deepening ties with China through CPEC,” Ahsan Iqbal said, adding: “We welcome further cooperation with China in the fields of industrial development and agriculture and technological innovation.”
Vice Chairman Zhao Chenxin recognized the importance of Pakistan-China relationships and noted China’s interest in promoting that partnership with Islamabad even more. He said: “CPEC 2.0 will not only improve the economies of both countries but will also lead to a sustainable environment development course for them.”
That is why the meeting is anticipated to take a big leap toward shaping up future interventions of CPEC with renewed opportunities for the benefits of economic development as well as regional integration.
