Pakistan and Czech Republic Partner to Set Up EV Manufacturing Plants

Pakistan is all set to plant its electric vehicle (EV) production plants in collaborative touch with the Czech Republic towards the wooing of mutual business relations and sustainable environmental technologies. A discussion briefing by Federal Minister for Economic Affairs, Ahad Cheema, on the deal with the Czech Ambassador H.E. Ladislav Steinhubel marks the event.

The agreement for the two countries includes the formation of Joint Working Groups (JWGs) for specific sectors. Ahead of the Pak-Czech JMC meeting scheduled for April 2025 in Islamabad, these JWGs will seek to enhance the cooperation between renewable energy, IT, and health portfolios.

According to Minister Cheema, bilateral trade is currently at a modest 84 million USD: “Indeed, it must be enhanced, especially in such promising sectors as green technologies and nanotechnology.” He has also endorsed the activation of the Agreement on Economic Cooperation first which promises even stronger economic collaboration.

It is one of the foremost pillars of this partnership to establish EV manufacturing plants in Pakistan. The Czech Republic’s technology know-how will cater to EV industry development in Pakistan by contributing significantly to pollution reduction and better transportation.

The Czech Ambassador reiterated that increasing ties with Pakistan would certainly be a huge blessing for the Embassy. The two sides believe this new partnership will pave the way for new business avenues for both, besides increased cooperation in their traditional and emerging sectors.
