Pakistan and Türkiye Explore Enhanced Trade Relations

The Turkish envoy to Pakistan, Irfan Neziroglu, held a meeting with Federal Commerce Minister Jam Kamal Khan to encourage bilateral trade and economic ties. The two officials talked about the historic, cultural, and strategic relations between the nations of Pakistan and Türkiye and the need to promote trade and bilateral opportunities.

The minister underscored the trade-in-goods agreement, which came into force in May of last year and has concessions on goods of both countries, the ambassador proposed sending a delegation to Türkiye in January 2025 for framing actionable plans ahead of a high-profile state meeting being held in Islamabad.

Minister Jam Kamal Khan is concerned with empowering the private sector through energy creation in a business-friendly environment. He hinted at the B2B initiatives as critical for outreach in the economic meeting.

The minister also mentioned his meeting with Turkish counterpart Dr. Omer Bolat last in Karachi, where they resolved to develop synergies between the two nations’ business communities. He also referred to the Joint Task Force on Textiles, which is established in an attempt to reduce tariffs and strengthen the textile value chain.
