Pakistan China B2B Event Fosters Textile Industry Partnerships

The Embassy of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan, Beijing, and the Consulate-General in Shanghai, in association with the Board of Investment (BOI), organized the Fourth B2B match-making event with a sector-specific focus in Suzhou, Jiangsu Province, the textile capital of China. The event aimed at the trade and investment partnerships of the textile and apparel industries of Pakistan with their Chinese counterparts.

A representative group of top Pakistani companies such as Matrix Sourcing, Naveena Exports, and Crescent Bahuman Ltd. was there with their counterparts – SUMEC Textile Co. Ltd. and JD United, among others. Khalil Hashmi, Pakistan’s Ambassador to China, emphasized that market access globally and expertise with a vertically integrated supply chain provided a strategic edge for investing in Pakistan’s textile sector.

He thanked the Board of Investment and those companies representing them for their contribution to making this event fruitful. He urged businesses to explore all the opportunities available and create win-win partnerships. Secretary Board of Investment, Rahim Hayat Qureshi described various robust investment policies of Pakistan along with incentives for the textile sector, such as simple regulatory procedures and a tax holiday.

A success story of cooperation being achieved through the partnership between Omer Saeed of Servis Long March and his partner in China brought out the benefits to be reaped through the economic linkages established between Pakistan and China and inspired the match participants to pursue deeper relationships. This matchmaking initiative, directed by the Prime Minister, aims to strengthen really the industrial base of Pakistan while improving the economy of this country with the relationship underlined by the Government of Pakistan as truly pursuing the Pakistan-China All-Weather Strategic Cooperative Partnership.
