Pakistan and Saudi Arabia sign MoU on Holy Quran Publication and Translation

Pakistan and Saudi Arabia have signed a Memorandum of Understanding to publish and translate the Holy Quran, striving for some progress in this collaboration towards far-reaching Islamic knowledge.

“The Ministry of Islamic Affairs signs a memorandum of understanding with the Pakistani Ministry of Religious Affairs.” Such is the announcement from the Saudi Ministry of Religious Affairs on X concerning the MoU.

The signing ceremony was held at a hotel in Jeddah and was attended by Sheikh Dr. Abdullatif bin Abdulaziz Al Al-Sheikh, Saudi Minister of Islamic Affairs. According to Saudi state media, the accord covers cooperation in advocacy, preacher training, and the promotion of Islam’s virtues and its message of moderation.

The MoU covers publishing and translating the Holy Quran and the Prophetic Sunnah, organizing mosques, training preachers and imams, and sharing expertise in mosque construction and maintenance. It also includes reviving Islamic heritage, publishing Islamic literature, and preserving historical manuscripts.

Pakistan’s Ministry of Religious Affairs, meanwhile, recently inked a deal with Saudi Airlines regarding the Hajj operation to facilitate air travel for around 35,000 Pakistani pilgrims.
