PM Shehbaz Sharif Orders Anti-Riots Force, Stresses Law and Order

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has given the directive to form an Anti-Riot Force under the auspices of the Islamabad Capital Territory and throughout the country to deal with rioting incidents. He chaired an Islamabad meeting for the review of law and order wherein he emphasized the need for professional training and international standard equipment for the personnel of this force.

During the meeting, the Prime Minister was also briefed about the protesters’ recent incidents of public property and law enforcement attacks. “Those who had been historically corrupt and conspiring to bankrupt this country have already been caught by the law, but instead of seeking legal ways to put themselves free, they have prompted chaos by marching onto Islamabad.”

Shehbaz Sharif, thus adding that “security forces were injured and martyred during these kinds of protest,” referred to them as insidious attempts at destabilizing the nation. He called for taking legal action against miscreants immediately and called for the reform of a prosecution system.

The Prime Minister said that the stock exchange had now crossed the 100,000-mark limit once the protests ended, but these types of utterly chaotic events have resulted in billions of losses. He named the anarchy and its leaders as having caused damage to the economy and thus called for their immediate identification and exemplary punishment.

Shehbaz Sharif saluted the security forces who sacrificed their lives in the protests and directed that a strategy should be formulated to stop all future marches on Islamabad or any other city for personal gain. He emphasized the government’s tolerance for armed individuals spreading chaos under the guise of peaceful sit-ins. He instructed that a comprehensive plan be put in place to deal with such situations.

Those who incited unrest and anger among the public during recent events, the Prime Minister stated, should be brought to book, and action should be taken against all those damaging public and private property.
