The Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP), a major alliance partner, condemned the government in the National Assembly over slow internet speeds and closures of social networking websites. During the session, PPP MNA Shazia Marri expressed her displeasure by saying, “The internet speed is destroyed; the ministry is in total disarray. What kind of firewall is this, and who is responsible?”
Her sarcastic expression to further showcase her resentment read: “It’s funny that there’s a bill called Digital Nation Pakistan when barely any internet functions.”

What drew ire in addition to all the above was the justification provided by PPP’s Abdul Qadir Patel for the devastating cases of damage to businesses: “What has reduced the internet to a state of profound misery? IT-related businesses have suffered losses in billions. I’ve not seen a ministry in such dire straits.”
To this, the Parliamentary Secretary, Cabinet Division, assured the House that there would be an end to any restriction on platforms like X (formerly Twitter) once the Interior Ministry confirmed stability in the situation.
