First the PTA makes the VPN process registration easier for organizations and individuals.
The Pakistan Telecommunication Authority has also made it easier for different kinds of organizations, from software houses, call centers, banks, embassies, and freelancers, to register VPN services. According to the spokesperson, this advancement enables them to register their VPNs quickly on the PTA’s website.

Easier Way of Doing the Same
Freelancers, IT firms, and members of the Pakistan Software Export Board (PSEB) can also submit the application for VPN registration through its online portal. This will require the submission of NIC numbers, company registration information, and taxpayer information. To be accepted, Freelancers must also present evidence of the project or company with which they are connected and an IP address where they wish to connect. Users subscribing to a static IP can always get it from their ISP.
Implementation and Benefits
PTA has registered more than 20,000 registrations so far. The process is free and usually does not exceed 8 to 10 hours. This step is believed to help many freelance and IT workers, who can now easily use dedicated VPNs for business purposes.

Every person who intends to use a VPN for business activity will be entitled to register under the “Freelancer” option and fill in the following details along with evidence from the employer. This preventative measure is part of the PTA’s objectives to ensure that only verified users can access secure VPNs.
