Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Barrister Gohar Ali Khan claimed on Wednesday that at least 5,000 PTI workers were still missing and that the party was collecting data about them from various districts. He criticized the government for opening fire on protesters, stating that no government should shoot at its people.
Gohar Ali Khan extended an olive branch, saying that the party is willing to talk with all political parties. “[PTI founder] Imran Khan will draft future strategy. Gohar Khan spoke to the media at Abbottabad on Wednesday. The KP government will also announce some compensations such as jobs for the families of the martyrs,” he added. “Our struggle is for restoration of democracy and Imran’s release,” he said.
Bushra Bibi, the wife of the PTI founder, is not joining politics and has been ruled out by Gohar, saying that she had no intention. “She [Bushra] attended the protest as an ordinary worker,” he added.

PTI Information Secretary Sheikh Waqas Akram blasted Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar for misguiding foreign diplomats under the garb of the ‘Islamabad massacre.’ Terming Dar’s briefing to foreign diplomats as unworthy, the PTI information secretary said that the foreign minister said that law enforcement agencies (LEAs) were not provided with live ammunition but equipped with water cannons, tear gas, and batons.
He claimed that 12 were killed and a few dozen were severely injured as a result of direct firing. Sheikh Waqas accused rulers of being a constant source of shame and further humiliation for Pakistan, as besides the wide coverage in both national and international media about the ‘Islamabad massacre’, they shamelessly lied to hide the bloodshed.
He reproached the government, saying they were always concerned only with their own self-interest and no concern for reputation. He said that the ‘Islamabad carnage’ had aroused widespread panic both in the country and outside, and their attempts at misinformation would serve no purpose.
He has made it clear that the ruling clique shall be accountable for ‘shameful actions’ of brutality. They shall answer for the unarmed murder of peaceful protesters. PTI Information Secretary again reiterated his party’s demand that the Supreme Court must establish an impartial, empowered judicial commission that must inquire into the killings of peaceful protesters in Islamabad and ensure severe punishment for all those responsible, even those who ordered or took part in the “clean-up operation.”
He maintained that PTI will relentlessly pursue justice and not keep silent until those responsible for orchestrating the Islamabad carnage face punishment.
