Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz announced the setting up of a Tier-4 Data Centre in Pakistan with the collaboration of China. She presided over a special meeting on the progress made so far on the Central Business District (CBD) Nawaz Sharif IT City project. She stressed the importance of this hub for technology development and education.
During the meeting, it was shared that universities from China, England, and many others are planning to establish branches in Nawaz Sharif IT City. This venture will include Tang, Xurt, and Baifang Institute of Vocational Education camps. Other of these plans include Buckinghamshire University & Imperial College London, which wish to set their campus in the future IT city.

An Artificial Intelligence and Information Technology University will also be established with international institutions. The Chief Minister directed the CBD to further expedite efforts to attract more international universities to the Nawaz Sharif IT City campus. She directed all stakeholders to make the highest priority and effort to complete the Nawaz Sharif IT City Twin Towers construction without delay on this flagship project.
