“Business-friendly policies are crucial for fostering economic activity,” stated Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif while announcing plans for Lahore’s first shopping festival, to be organized in collaboration with chain stores.
During a meeting with a delegation from the Chainstore Association of Pakistan, she reviewed a proposal to establish an annual calendar for store operating hours in Punjab. The meeting also saw a principled decision to hold shopping festivals across the province. “I aim to work hand in hand with the business community. Practical suggestions for promoting business will be implemented,” the chief minister assured.
She added, “I am Pakistani at heart and proudly use Pakistani brands.”

The chief minister also announced the revival of the Horse and Cattle Show in Lahore with a fresh approach. The delegation shared various ideas to stimulate business growth in the province.
In addition, Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz inaugurated the annual Chrysanthemum Exhibition at Jilani Park, inspecting creative displays made from chrysanthemums. Parks and Horticulture Authority (PHA) Director General Muhammad Tahir Wattoo briefed her on the 10-day event, showcasing around 200 rare chrysanthemum varieties. A light show will complement the exhibition each evening.
The PHA officials explained that the flower plants were cultivated over a year in PHA nurseries for the event, with each flower lasting 15 to 20 days and blooming in early December.
“Flowers symbolize peace and love,” remarked the chief minister, urging residents of Lahore and other cities to visit the exhibition. She also inaugurated the PHA Commercial Nursery, where she viewed local olive plants and was gifted pomegranate and bonsai plants.
